Press Releases 07/12/10 SUBJECT: STREET CLOSURE / ACCESS
Beginning on Monday, July 12, 2010, and running through Tuesday, July 13, 2010, the east side of Chancy and Sabula Streets will be closed to traffic and this will result in no access to 24th Place. Please contact Public Works with any questions: 242-0261. 07/06/10 SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - NORTH 2ND STREET Asphalt paving will begin on North 2nd Street tomorrow morning at 7:00 A.M. The contractor will pave the base course from 13th Avenue North to 19th Avenue North tomorrow. Periodic lane closures and minor traffic delays are to be expected. Paving of North 2nd Street will continue on Thursday and Friday from 7th Avenue North to 13th Avenue North. Paving of the surface course from 7th Avenue North to 19th Avenue North will take place early next week. If anyone has any questions or concerns related to this project, please contact the Engineering Division at 563-244-3360.. 06/11/10 SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – 2nd AVE SOUTH RESURFACING Construction will begin Monday, June 14, at 8:00 A.M. on 2nd Avenue South, from Bluff Boulevard to South 4th Street. The City’s contractor plans to perform asphalt milling procedures on Monday and Tuesday of next week. During this time no parking will be allowed on 2nd Avenue South. The street will be open to all traffic during this construction. Once milling is completed, the contractor will reconstruct portions of the curb, gutter, and driveway approaches. Once this is completed, the street will be resurfaced with hot mix asphalt. During paving, which will occur over two days in July, the street will be closed to through traffic. If anyone has any questions or concerns related to this project, please contact the Engineering Division at 563-244-3360. 05/17/10 SUBJECT: EAST CENTRAL LYONS CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Crews will finish paving of the intersection of 23rd Avenue North and Roosevelt Street over the next couple of days. 23rd Avenue North should be open to traffic from 2nd Street to Garfield Street by May 26th. Crews will begin excavating the 2200 and 2300 blocks of Garfield Street tomorrow to prepare for paving. Garfield Street will be closed to all traffic during the next couple of weeks. Water crews are working on 22nd Avenue North from 2nd Street to McKinley Street intermittently, which may cause some minor delays and narrow traveled ways. Street excavation and paving will begin on 22nd Avenue North in early June. If anyone has any questions or concerns related to this project, please contact the Engineering Division at 563-244-3361. 05/03/10 SUBJECT: CONSTRUCTION UPDATE Effective Monday, May 3, 2010, construction will begin on 19th Avenue NW Project .
