CHAPTER NO. 2299

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF CLINTON, IOWA, 1999, BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION TO CHAPTER 69 RELATING TO 24 HOUR PARKING LIMITS AND AMENDING CHAPTER 70.06 (4) REGARDING THE IMPOUNDING OF VEHICLES.

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CLINTON, IOWA:

Section 1.  New Subsection.  The Code of Ordinances of the City of Clinton, Iowa, 1999, is amended by adding a new subsection (19) in Chapter 69.07 entitled “Parked Over 24 or 48 Hours” which is hereby adopted to read as follows:

             19.  Parked Over 24 or 48 Hours.  When any vehicle is left parked for a continuous period of 24 hours or more on any street or 48 hours or more in any municipal parking lot.  In order for any vehicle to be exempt from the provisions set forth in this section, the vehicle must move at least 25 feet under its own power.

 Section 2.  Subsection Amended.  The Code of Ordinances of the City of Clinton, Iowa, 1999, is amended by amending Chapter 70.06 (4) to read as follows:

             4.  Parked Over 24 or 48 Hours.  When any vehicle is left parked for a continuous period of 24 hours or more on any street or 48 hours or more in any municipal parking lot.

 Section 3.  Severability Clause.  If any section, provision or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.

 Section 4.  Repealer.  Any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 Section 5.  Effective Date.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption and publication as provided by law.
